Enes Kanter, who plays center for the Celtics, was among a large group of protesters in Boston Common, who were not far from the Massachusetts State House.Kanter, who stands nearly 7 feet tall, was seen wearing his No. 11 green Celtics jersey and chanting, "I can't breathe!" He was later seen speaking on a microphone to the demonstrators around him."I'm going to take my mask off so you can hear me," Kanter said to the crowd. First of all, I want to thank you all for what you're doing. I really, really appreciate it. The second thing I want to say, man, is we need change, and change cannot wait. You know? I get emotional, but we are on the right side of history, man. You know what, black lives matter, right? Let's go."Kanter's Celtics teammate, Marcus Smart, also participated in Boston's demonstration Sunday night. Vincent Poirier, a Celtics center, joined Smart in the protest and shared video of a march on his Instagram story. Meanwhile, Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown led a peaceful protest through the streets of Atlanta Saturday night. He drove from 15 hours from Boston in order to organize a demonstration in his hometown.Multiple demonstrations happened in Boston Sunday night to protest police brutality and call for justice in the death of Floyd, a black man who died Memorial Day while handcuffed in the custody of the Minneapolis police.Those participating in the protests were heard chanting, "No justice, no peace," and "I can't breathe," in reference to what Floyd said in video where he was pinned to the ground by a Minneapolis officer. That officer, Derek Chauvin, was fired and later arrested on charges of third-degree murder and manslaughter.
